October Reads

October is officially here and spooky season is in full swing! It was a great month for me personally and reading wise, so let’s get right into it!

  • Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid – 4 Stars (9/23/26-10/2/26)

I loved seeing this side of TJR’s writing. The “what-if” storylines can be boring or overly dramatic, but this one was done so beautifully. In a very realistic way, you see how one small difference changes your whole life. This book makes you think about your own life choices in a new light, while also giving you two incredible love stories for the price of one.

  • Happily Never After by Lynn Painter – 2.5 Stars (10/3/26-10/9/26)

This book was very lighthearted and fun. Very fluffy. I would’ve liked it to have a similar feeling to her YA books, but it was still decent. It just felt a little one-dimensional to me and I hate that it felt that way.

  • Kiss & Tell by Adib Khorram – 3.5 Stars (10/12/26-10/18/26)

This was my first Adib Khorram book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The storyline felt nostalgic to a time when Wattpad fan fiction was all we read. The superstardom without benefit storyline is something that I will always gravitate towards. This felt fresh and familiar at the same time. Can’t wait to read another one of his books!

  • The Last One at the Wedding by Jason Rekulak – 3 Stars (10/2/26-10/30/26)

After absolutely loving Hidden Pictures, I was really excited to read this novel. Sadly, it didn’t feel the same to me as his last book. I loved the art included in his last novel and the level of suspense was perfect. To me, this felt like a book I had read before. It just felt too much like a bunch of other thrillers coming out right now. I will always read Jason Rekulak’s books, so he has a lifelong fan. But I hope he goes back to the style of his other work.

It was a slow month, but considering everything that’s gone on in my personal life, I feel pretty accomplished with the books I was able to get through. After three months in my fall TBR, I read 3/12 and DNF’d 1/12. Definitely not my highest score, but I am looking forward to what I have in store for winter!!!
